Designed for rapid and accurate counting of bacterial and mould colonies. The Techne colony counter is easy to use. Simply place the Petri dish on the electronic pressure pad and touch the dish with a felt tip pen to mark each colony in turn. Touch pressure causes a count to be registered on the digital display and an audible tone confirms each count made. Marking the dish with a felt tip pen avoids missing colonies or double counting, although any suitable implement may be used to apply pressure to the dish. A built-in averaging facility allows multiple plates to be counted and then the average colony count calculated.

Optimum viewing of colonies is aided by peripheral, glare-free illumination. There is also a black background facility for difficult translucent cultures. The TSC6 is supplied complete with one Wolffhuegel graticule, one segmentation disc and two centering adaptors, to facilitate use with 50-90mm dishes. A choice of magnifiers is available as an optional extra for counting very small colonies. All Techne benchtop equipment is protected by Biocote®, which uses active agent silver to provide effective anti-microbial protection.
