The Minor Metabowl for small animals (originally designed for mice) is an all-glass metabolic cage with the exception of the Stainless steel floor mesh. The chamber is 105mm I.D. and there is 90mm wall height from the mesh floor to the flange. The all glass lid adds to this height. Both chamber and lid are of sterilizable heat-resisting borosilicate glass and a stainless steel circlet clip for holding lid to base is included. The chamber and lid flanges are ground to an interchangeable finish. The water supply chamber is an integral part of the main body and the water-feed drip is attached to this chamber by interchangeable ground glass joints. This enables easy removal of the water drip for cleaning and filling. The food chamber, however, is attached to the main body by means of an ISO joint which enables different types of feeder to be fitted as required. The feeder options are a pellet feed, cigar type or soft mash feeder.

A stainless steel grill is fitted to the pellet feeder to prevent the pellets falling directly into the main chamber. A feces and urine separators are joined to the underside of the cage by spring retained ISO joints with a spreader below the mesh floor making sure the urine runs into the urine flask and cannot get into the feces. Each separator has a side arm for air take-off and a stopper is also included for blanking off the side arm, if not required. A rubber bung for the lid protected underneath by a glass disc, prevents nibbling, and is included together with an air tube, a second hole being drilled through the rubber and glass for your thermometer. The complete unit for the small animal comes complete with 2 x Nil-Ox and one CO2 absorber columns.
